2007, quater 1 global sales figures are out (according to RCR news). Nokia takes 1st place in world wide cell phone sales numbers. Coming in at 35.5% of global cell phone market share, Nokia holds it’s strong ground at global cell phone supplier. With addition of new and exciting, ever more multimedia capable phones such as Nokia N80, Nokia n90 and other Nokia N series, Nokia is still the king of the hill when it comes to cell phone distribution in the global market. Nokia’s gain in the market place is hughly credited by loss of it’s ground by Motorola in quarter 1 of 2007. Samsung benefited also by Motorola losing the ground. For April 2007, following are Nokia phone price change according to carriers.

Cingular (AT&T), Nokia E62, going from $70 to $30, down $40. (of course, these are with activation people, please don’t send me complaint letters…).

For T-Mobile USA, Nokia 6133, going from $100 to $80, down $20. I think Nokia E62 is just the right price now to purchase. If you like blackberry but desire little more multimedia functions, Nokia E62 is worth your consideration.

Our friendly Verizon network offers this low-key candy-bar style cellular phone by Nokia. Our cell phone review of the Nokia 6236i design specifications are not something to awe over. In fact the Nokia 6236i shell design is something that we would have expected to see a couple of years ago. In addition to poor design, the Nokia 6236i comes equipped with a small screen and suffers from small button size, which becomes cumbersome for larger hands. Though it may lack a unique look like many of its predecessors, the Nokia 6236i dose what it’s meant to do. The 6236i is a lightweight cellular device that integrates features like a radio, a camera, video capture, downloadable video games, and ring tones. Thereby, overall the added features makes the phone a decent low-end buy that may be right up your alley if you are looking for a phone to make calls and get some extras and not something that your life revolves around. If interested in The Nokia 6236i after reading through this cell phone review then its fairly priced at $169.99 with a one year contract and $69.00 with a two-year contract at Verizon stores near you.

So it just so happens that an individual here at the office got her hands on the exclusive Nokia 7373. Now judging from the pink color tone of the phone it seems as though this is a phone targeted more at a fashionable audience rather then the macho tough football loving audience. The phone itself is pretty nice and the build quality is exceptional as well. The phone does include a unique tribal design that is visible throughout the front of the phone as well as the metal finish located in the back of the phone when slid open.

The technical aspects of the phone aren’t too shabby either since the phone does come with a 2 megapixel camera as well as an mp3 player with bluetooth compatibility and an expandable memory card. The phone is a great buy if you can find it but do be warned that some places may charge close to $300-400 for this exclusive phone. So once again Nokia has upped the bar when it comes to designing the most over priced phone in the market with the Nokia 8600 Luna. The Nokia Luna will be constructed of chrome, stainless steel, and titanium and will also have a opaque smoked glass which will cover the keypads will the phone is not in use. This is by far the most material I’ve seen put into a phone and yet simply looking at the phone doesn’t do it justice, you actually need to see the price tag to understand the true beauty. At about $700, this phone is by no means a bargain but with features such as the slide open glass cover, a high resolution display, 2 MP camera, MP3 compatibilities and bluetooth, you’re actually getting a lot for your money. I hope the price on the phone does drop but expect it to stay high as this phone becomes more of an exclusive item rather then a must have.

Nokia has announced plans to release the Nokia 6110, which is a more affordable version of the N95. The Nokia 6110 will play host to much of the same features that are found on the N95 with the exception to WiFi and an uber powerful camera. The Nokia 6110 will have a 2 megapixel camera as well as GPS, stereo bluetooth, memory card slot, text-to-speech, and quad-band GSM. The phone is marketed towards individuals who cant afford the hefty price of the N95 but desire much of the same features. Nokia does a great job in addressing this issue and compiles it into a nice little package known as the Nokia 6110. Nokia has plans to release the Nokia 6500 in both bar and slider form. The phone will be released as a “midrange” phone, which is odd considering both phones have a great deal of quality and features included out of the box. The 6500 Classic (bar type) will be about 9.5mm thick and will be composed of anodized aluminum and will feature a 2 megepixel camera, 1GB internal memory, and bluetooth. The 6500 slider on the other hand will be similar except for the upgraded 3.2 megapixel Carl Zeiss autofocus camera. Now by looking at these I can tell that the build quality is great but I can’t say much without getting my hands on these bad boys. Expect the release date to be about Q3 of 2007. I will keep you up to date on the information as it becomes available.

Nokia has bumped up its mid-range product line once again with the release of three new phones; the Nokia 6121 / 6267 / 3500. The 6267, being the more expensive of the three, will host a variety of features such as a music player with dedicated external music keys, a 2 megapixel camera with flash, and up to 4gb of storage. The other two phones ( the Nokia 6121 and 3500) are both based off the candy bar design with each holding its list of features and options. Neither of the bar phones are appealing as the Nokia 6267 and we can only wait and see if they hit the market running or not.

So Nokia is known for either having ground breaking phones or phones that are just plain hideous. With Nokia’s newest creation, the Nokia 7500, I think Nokia will fall into the hideous category with this phone. First off I do want to state that I have no information on the specs of the phone, so it could actually turn out to be one of the most feature packed phones to ever hit the market, the most hideous feature packed phone to hit that market that is. The 7500 resembles something that a 7 year old child would put together, with nothing more than hard lines this phone doesn’t look to promising with given pictures. Like I stated before, no specs have been released on the phone but I can say that I’m not really looking forward to it. Think about it, we have the iPhone in 4 days, the HTC Touch should make its way over any time now, why would we waste our time on a phone that is an eye sore, to me at least, when we have true works of art being released to us in a matter of weeks and months.
